James Dawson.

I guess there's no easy way to put this, but young James, son of Chris, aka Chevrolet on this forum, has passed away, from problems associated with his heart condition.  I'm sure everyone here would like to send their heartfelt condolences to Chris and his family at this time.  Not sure what else to say.

RE: James Dawson.

Another Rodder Lost

Chris informed me this morning of the sad news that James Dawson passed away in his arms. I'm sure Chris would forgive me for not being able to pass on all the details correctly as I was and still am, in total shock. James and Chris were talking about his Chevy being back on e bay when he passed away. He couldn't have passed in a better way, in the arms of his father. Who could love you more than your mother and father? They were Talking about his other love, cars and knowing that all of us in this family...the AHRA, were thinking of him and toasting him at the NATS where we all missed James and Chris and everything they bring with them to our little family.

Remember how proud we all were that James won a NASC trophy at our show 2 years ago with his ' Chuvvit' on L plates as a young teenager. How he was so excited about getting a job working with classic cars and the like. How enthusiastic he was building his own cars and living the life of a true hot rodder.

We have not just lost a member of our club. We have lost a member of our family, a son of the hot rod community.

Chris, you know we love you and we love James. Our thoughts are with you and your family and we will always share our memories of James and keep him alive in our hearts and James will always be a member of our little club. If you need anything I'm sure I can speak for all in the club...you can be sure we will all be here for anything you need.

The AHRA will be participating in James' funeral. Details will be posted on here and by phone and at the meeting on Wednesday.

Rest In Peace James Dawson.

RE: James Dawson.

James and Chris were the first people I met the first night I came down the an AHRA club meet over 3 years ago and they were so freindly and welcoming.
i would like to pass my whole families deepest sympathy to Chris and family on James's passing. I spoke to him at the MMM10 show telling him to take it easy and do as the doctors said. Such a great young vibrant lad who only knew how to make people laugh. James you will not be forgotten.
I will light a candle for you tonight.
rest in peace

RE: James Dawson.

Just heard about what happened. Only met James a couple of times at the Dick Turpin, but he seemed like a good lad with lots of enthusiasm and a good sense of humour. My sister in law passed away a couple of years ago under very similar curcumstances aged 23. Puts your life into perspective, all the stupid things we complain and argue about, just not worth it is it. My thoughts are with you.

It's funny you should say that mate, that's exactly the way I've been feeling all afternoon.  All our silly little arguments this year, about what is or isn't a hotrod, who should or shouldn't be allowed to join, in the grand sceme of things, how much does it really matter.  The most important thing in life IS life, living it to the full.  The love of family and friends, the passion we share for this sport of ours, that's surely what matters.  Life's too short as it is, lets never again waste our time on petty diferences, I'm sure that's what James would like. How about we all get together, members past and present, at the next meet, and raise a glass in memory to James, and put aside our differences, even if only for one night.

RE: James Dawson.

hi, we met james at the first nats at the suffolk showground 3 years ago. my son spike and james had shuvits in common, very similar in style . they were mates from then on and many a time we'd hear james approaching 5 minutes before he arrived, bloody nuisance, we loved him like any naughty kid! he borrowed my shoes once to go on the pull because they wouldn't let him in the club with his steel toecaps on. he was full of enthusiasm for all things automotive and he'll be sorely missed.

All of the nightmares send our heartfelt condolences to chris (known as dad to the nightmares since drayton last year) and the family.

rest in peace james

RE: James Dawson.

We found out today the very sad news of James` passing. We are proud to say that James was a friend of ours from the very first time we met, at a club meeting. He always had a smile, and a joke, and a head full of ideas which he was determined to do.The Beetle was the love of his life which showed his personality to a Tee,rough around the edges to look at with a heart of gold inside.

Claire remembers once at Braintree cruise when we were in the blue Cortina and James came up and asked  where she was sitting? she said "on my arse " James replied there are no harnesses she replyed my arse is my harness , that has been a joke between them.ever since.

Reece would like to say james had brilliant personality all the best to chris and mrs chris love 50p

James` passing has helped others and this is true of his giving nature, He was ,is now and always will be in our hearts

     LOVE YOU JAMES

RE: James Dawson.

We met James a couple years back at a Classic Car show at Drayton Manor in Staffordshire if i remember rightly, we were introduced to him via my fiancee's brother Spyk, met him 2-3 other times after that & what can i say, he seemed like a quality bloke, always laughin & jokin & behavin like a total loon like the rest of us.

Heard of his passing early this afternoon & it was a massive shock to the system to say the least! Didn't have the opportunity to get to know him very well & we deeply regret not gettin to know him better when we had the chance & we would give anything to have more chances to get to know him better.

James dude, we miss you already, we miss your bright & cheerful manner, your enthusiasm, your mad burn outs & everythin about you mate. We could say 'what a waste of a young life' but James never wasted a second of it & i'm sure that's 1 of his many qualities we will all remember him by.

R.I.P. Buddy, keep on cruisin ;)

All our Love

RE: James Dawson.

Ive spent all day trying to write something, but havnt been able to find the words.......

As one father to another Chris, I am deeply sorry.

I first met James at Frankie and Bennies in Braintree when I took my day van instead of the pop.  Having spent 1/2 an hour taking the piss out of my day van and me trying to convince him I had a rod, he then took the piss out of the way his dad (who left early) drove his Camaro like a woman and what he would do if let behind the wheel before leaving the car park in a cloud of chuvitt exhaust and tyre smoke!!!

A friend and a rodder who will be very sorley missed for his sense of humour and his ability to make me feel very old!!!!

lots of love

Hi All........

I'm just passing through to offer my love and wishes to James family from Spooky Vee Dub Club in Maldon.

I found out the tragic news this afternoon....and am shocked at such a young and bright life being taken. James had been coming to Spooky for about a year and a half, i think, and was a really lovely guy and very enthusisatic about his cars! Having had a Spooky meet this evening the sorry news has been shared....We're off to VW Action at Herts Showground this weekend...the first show James came to with us as a club last year....So a glass or 2 shall be raised for him :)

Love and thoughts to his family

RE: James Dawson.

I haven't been on for a while, but this has made me come back.

I will miss james' oozing persona, his passion for cars has affected me, unfortunatley I only realise this now. I never saw him angry or upset, his beaming face now etched into my memory. its tragic for life to be cut so short, especially a life that has touched so many peoples lives and made those lives better in some small way. james was the most enthusiastic person I've had the pleasure of meeting, an honour that could never to be improved upon.

my heart goes out to chris and the family, we've all lost a geuine hero and I wish I could say so much more. I need not, however, as james' memory is far bigger than words can express. he'll never be forgotten.
